I KNOW the REST of you went on to standard time last weekend, after having Daylight Savings Time.
But am rather dismayed that that is a topic of interest after one of the most disgusting elections in the US that I have ever seen.
That sort of reaction would let me want to throw in the towel, if it were about getting 'reactions'. I mean, really, now... of what interest is it to me if someone in Thailand wants to call up what I was remembering, tongue in cheek, on the subject two years ago?
And that disturbs me somewhat. I planned a 'quiet' blog, and got caught up in it. Sort of like a diary, am usually under stress and it helped, and I haven't really CARED about who reads it. The main thing, it is honest. And sometimes silly, and sometimes angry.... the way people can be.
So I was thinking about shutting it down this evening. And thought it over... and realised that it is my sort of therapy in an increasingly stressful world. And I don't really care about what people think.
Shrug... maybe someone gets an impulse out of it if I give some sort of opinion which helps them. I certainly don't want to hurt anyone with my ruminations....
So I guess I will just keep on going on. It's never been my goal to have a vast readership.
Oh yeah, Peter got through the operation ok. Was ornery as hell on the telephone. I hadn't heard from the hospital, and wasn't sure where he was, and took a day off from running out there with the chance of not finding him. Yesterday was more than enough. I wanted to let the dust settle.
So tomorrow, it's back to the 'programme'.... Am not thrilled, but you do what you have to do, and once in a while, you need a day to breathe.

Re-defining goals

I dunno...
Usually, at the end of the year, one tends to sit back and take stock of things.
Just a little over three years ago.... I began this questionable thing, never believing anyone would read it. I just wanted to preserve some old manuscripts, as mine were in pretty bad shape.
To my extreme wonderment, some few people do.
A few days ago, a cousin of mine said, 'I'm gonna go read your blog now. It is so 'nasty'. I was really taken aback. Sure, on-line you can be whatever you wish to be, and use bad language not acceptable in polite so-ci-et-y. It is a vent. You let off some steam.
'Nasty' kind of floored me.....
Looking back over this past year.... well, two topics seem to have been the focus. Health care reform in the US, and human rights issues. So shoot me, or something....
As I have oftn said, I have been within two health care systems, and wanted to contradict the LIES people in the US grow up with with their mother-milk. It is something I know about. Unfortunately.....
Please note that I said 'human rights', not GBLT rights, or confining it.
We are all still humans.... I think...
And when I see people get denigrated for being WHO they are... yes, I get angry, and yes, the language can turn pretty blue to purple.
That is what Dickens used to call 'indignation'. Too much empathy can really get you in trouble nowadays.
The rest is about what delights me, or angers me, or what I wish to share, although my sense of humour got shot in the arm sometime in the Sixties....
It isn't everyone's 'thing'.
So that is what this has become, it was never a 'plan', or thought out... it grew organically.
But looking back, I think it is what I wanted to do.
Like sitting back in an armchair, and 'shooting the shit', as they say....
Without the ladies in the room, but you KNOW they have their ears pressed to the door... (smile). And believe me... they can be more potty-mouthed than any man has ever imagined. I know. I had MY ear pressed to the door one day, and came away speechless.
So... what is the bottom line....
Am not so sure. The health-care thing will be solved..... or more likely not... fairly soon.
And yes, am screamingly angry about the whores who have taken insurance and pharmaceutical monies and gotten up on their sanctimonius horses to make SURE their constituents don't have the advantages they have themselves.
So it will be a topic.
Human rights? Ditto.
I might tweak some other subjects later.
The opera is putting on a prouction I never heard of this month. So I went to Google to find out what it is about. Using Disney... Arielle gets legs from a wicked witch so she can marry a prince, but isn't allowed to speak, so he betrays her, she is forbidden to return to her former form, and she has to kill him, but remains an evil spirit who brings destruction on anyone she encounters. Music by Dvorzak. Uh-huh. The Czechs meet the Brothers Grimm, and .... oh, don't want to go there....
Christmas cheer, you know? Why couldn't they do 'The Nutcracker?'
It's dark enough...

Sometimes you run across someone interesting.
And noooo, it isn't someone from the foreign legion this time.
It was from a nice scared newbie who ventured onto Annti's blog and being new to it all, asked questions. And despite the tone sometimes on Mark of the Beast, we all were kind, and explained what she wanted to know.
Yesterday she asked Annti if she would blog-roll her, meaning putting her link into the right side of her tool bar on the front page. And gave the URL, so I hopped over there, and took a look.
In her self-description, she is a devoted Christian, and I thought.... uh-oh.... But then I read her post on attending a wedding. And a few others. And was surprised.
Y'KNOW.... over the past eight years the radical right has taken over the so-called 'Christian Movement', and changed it to hate. And the word 'Christian' nearly became a swear word of the highest order.
The bigots painted in the worst colors.
And we forgot. A lot of us just forgot.
What I found was a thoughtful young lady with a good sense of humour, and an excellent way of expressing herself. She has her own voice. I wish she wouldn't put herself down.
If her religious beliefs are honest, and she is very tolerant, that makes us the bigots for pushing away when we hear the C word. Surely, we get beat up all the time from people who CALL themselves Christians. So it becomes like Pavlov and the dog, and is no excuse, but you get to the point where you do not know whom to trust.
So I wish you all would take a look at this blog. It is worth the time.

And best of all.... she can make me smile. Sadly, but smile all the same.
Please go to Mark of the Beast and see what Terrible posted today

And then YOU tell me.... Where the fuck is the harm being done?
As to his moniker on the Internets.... Terrible is NOT terrible, although I think he might wish to be....
And very straight.
And has a heart, which is more than I can say for a lot of people.
So what are you hanging around here for? Go read, and look! Jeez....
