We lost a real Democrat... Paul Newmann

But I only saw him once, up close and personal. He was standing at the bus stop in front of the bank next door. And I thought, no, cannot be... 'Why the hell would Paul Newman be waiting for a BUS, hey..

But it was. Paul Newman standing at the bus stop. As far as I know, he was doing something for the democratic party. He was always quiet about what he did. But I think he did a lot....

Those eyes, and the kindness inside. And people across a four lane street stated yelling, 'LUKE! LUKE! LUKE!' But didn't mob or bother him. (His last hit had played there, Cool Hand Luke.)

People in NH are sort of reticent when it comes to celebriuties But I saw the face, and looked into those wonderful eyes....

And he was wonderful. What a loss.....

Oh yeah, he wasn't waiting for a bus, by the way. this big limo came up and took him in and Joanne Woodward was in it.

Sad. So who is gonna be third?

Life SUCKS.

When the world loses such great men life does indeed suck.

Tja, Terrible...

What struck me way back then was the unpretentiousness. He looked sort of amused, and a bit sardonic. Am sure you know that 'look'.

But he was just a person, I think, in his mind.

He was often in NH before primaries, and the rumours were often rife, but that was just so unesxpected...

But his engagement in our politics impressed me even more than what he did on screen, although he gave some stellar performances.

And that he did so much else, helping people.

So he was a hero, but not because he was good on screen.

And he was quiet about it, but we should pick a day, stop and think, and say: 'Thanks.'

And set out a buffet with fifty boiled eggs... (smile)
