I've experienced this...

If you are on a plane, and hear an engine backfire on take off... pray. I KNOW this from being in the Civil Air Patrol. But we had parachutes. Except for the time I flew Delta, and it crashed in Boston the day after I got to Manchester, absolutely terrified. I don't think I'm flying anywhere soon, but lord help the people who do.
